1. Get to know its Spanish heritage

After being colonized by the Spanish for more than 300 years, a strong touch of Spain can be felt and seen all over the country. Did you know that Cebu was the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines and that it's the actual birthplace of Filipino Catholicism? Offering lots of history and culture to enjoy. Trace the country's rich history, starting with a visit to the Santo Niño Basilica, followed by a short stop at Magellan’s Cross. Fort San Pedro, a fortress built by the Spanish, also serves as one of Cebu’s top historical structures.

2. Experience Cebu Sinulog Festival

The Philippines is a land of festivals and Cebu’s Sinulog is seen as the grandest of all, held every 3rd Sunday of January in honor of the Holy Child Jesus or Santo Niño. Feel the locals’ devotion at the religious processions, then treat yourself to the colors of music of the Sinulog Grand Parade. The Sinulog is a prayer ritual through dance, following the rhythm of the waves.

3. Hit snooze at one of the gorgeous beaches of Cebu

Like many other Philippines destinations, Cebu doesn't run short of white-sandy beaches. For those who don’t have much time and prefer not to travel far, check out the various beachfront resorts on Mactan Island (and enjoy island-hopping tours). The northern island of Bantayan is also a beach paradise with its rustic island vibe. The southern towns offer more idyllic beaches, along with secret coves for those who want to enjoy their own private beaches.

4. Go diving and explore Cebu’s colourful underwater world

With its rich underwater marine life, Philippines has some of the world’s best diving sites. And Cebu hosts one of the top spots. Moalboal is famous for its sardine run. Imagine diving, surrounded by 1 million sardines. Some describe this as real-life dream. Head up north for some more underwater exploring at Malapascua Island.

5. Swim with the whale sharks

A must-do when in Cebu, though it's advisable to visit during low season. Experience swimming with whale sharks in the town of Oslob, 3 hours south from Cebu City. Get up close with the world’s largest friendly shark. Oslob offers 100% chance of an encounter with these gentle giants.

6. Cool off under Kawasan Falls

Kawasan Falls is one of the main attractions in southern Cebu. Tucked away into the forest (though highly accessible) of Cebu, surrounded by turquoise water. Ride the bamboo raft and enjoy a refreshing shower under Kawasan Falls.

7. Savoury Cebuano dishes

From the famous lechon (roasted suckling pig) to sumptuous seafoods. Picking a good restaurant won't be a problem here. Try some sweet Cebu mango for dessert while you're at it. Famous all over Asia and one of the country's sweetest of all. Other classic Cebuano dishes worth trying include Balbacua (slow-cooked stew made from ox tail and skin), tinola (fish soup), kinilaw (ceviche), and grilled chorizo de Cebu (local sausage)!

8. Chill out at 1,000 feet above sea level

There is no question that Cebu offers a wide range of nightlife spots, but Marco Polo Cebu Plaza Hotel’s Blu Bar & Grill takes things to the next level. Enjoy cocktails with a panoramic view over the city, after a long day of exploring the city. Relax with your favorite drink and try out some of the bar’s delicious food. Watch all the action unfold before your eyes as you sip your drinks.

9. Wander along the Taj Mahal of Cebu

Perched in one of Cebu’s mountain areas is Temple of Leah – a Greek-style structure built in honor of the builder’s wife, Leah. Huge sculptures, columns, and a gorgeous view of Cebu City. Temple of Leah offers plenty of amazing photo spots for visitors.

10. Visit Cebu’s flower farms

In the highlands of Cebu, within a protected forested landscape, local flower farms give the Cebu experience a whole new touch. Sirao Flower Farm is, with its fire-hued celosia flowers of reds and oranges, the one to see.

Wether you're visiting Cebu for the weekend or on an extended holiday trip, one will never run short of things to enjoy and see in Cebu. With modern amenities and facilities, Cebu offers relaxing high quality holidays with tons of exploring options.
